Roll Formed Welded Shapes, Custom Tubing and Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) Tubes

Examples of welded shape profile capabilities

Sharon Custom Metal Forming has the capability to produce custom welded
tubing, commonly referred to as welded shapes. Our electric resistance
welder in tandem with a roll forming line creates quality welded shapes
with a continuous bond that is as strong or stronger than the parent metal. Due to the small heat affected area the welded seam has a clean appearance.

Custom welded shapes are commonly used in applications where structural strength, consistent cross section, and tight tolerances are required. Applications can be found in all metal utilizing industries such as: office systems, agricultural, automotive, recreational equipment, architecture, displays and fixtures, and many others.

The advantages of using welded shapes:

  • Provides a roll formed shape with structural integrity
  • Increases a shapes strength (over standard roll form) permitting the use of lighter gauge metal to meet strength specifications
  • Able to design and produce a welded shape that was previously made from multiple roll formed shapes
  • Finished product is cosmetically clean
  • Flexibility in the shape profiles that can be produced

Sharon Custom Metal Forming has the expertise and experience to form simple through complex roll formed welded shapes. Our design team is ready to work with you to optimize your design with innovative solutions. Couple this technical excellence with our outstanding product quality and customer service and you’ll quickly agree that you can always count on us!

Roll Formed Welded Shape Metals

There is a wide choice of metals and finishes that can be roll formed and continuously welded to form a welded shape. Various metal strengths, surface appearances, and types of corrosion resistance are available to meet the specific application needs of a roll formed welded shape.

Uncoated steels used in producing welded shapes:

  • Carbon
  • High-strength-low-alloy

Coated steels such as galvanized and aluminized can also be used to produce welded shapes.

Roll Formed Welded Shape Secondary Operations

SCMF provides a number of value added secondary operations for roll formed welded shapes such as:

  • Robotic welding
  • Component assembly
  • Post punching
  • Bending
  • Stamping
  • Drilling
  • Powder Coating and E-Coating services
